Beloved reader, the past few years of the 2020s have been filled with times that challenge our resilience and can make us feel like we have been thrown into a bottomless pit of chaos, confusion, pain, illness, isolation, and even despair.
These past few years have "awakened" me to the collective struggle that has permeated society. Obviously Covid created a tsunami of pain, illness and suffering; yet I'm struck by the additional loneliness, fear and anxiety, and the division the pandemic and subsequent events over the years that were unleashed. It brought to the forefront our most basic human needs: to matter, to belong, to have human connection, and to experience love, kindness, compassion, friendship and community.
Levels of anxiety, depression and isolation are at tremendously high levels; taking their toll in so many ways-physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and even financially. Maybe you can identify, and feel like you've tried everything: including seeing a myriad of healthcare professionals, prescription drugs, diets, supplements, etc. and you may have experienced some relief, but in the end, still not completely feeling your best. The truth is, there isn't really a one size fits all magic pill or remedy.
Sometimes we need to find ways to manage/mitigate the pain and simply maintain a glimmer of hope. And while I don't pretend to offer an instant solution, there is good news:
Nature heals.
God's love never fails.
Our bodies are phenomenally intricate machines with an innate miraculous ability to heal.
When we trust in and work with our bodies, have faith in God's love, kindness and provision, guard our hearts and remember that we are not alone; we can thrive and flourish even as we endure challenging circumstances, chronic pain and/or illness. It's essential to embrace possibility, cling to our faith, and resist the sometimes pervasive, disconcerting, disheartening hopelessness that anxiety can unleash on us,
We need a paradigm shift with the focus on prevention and understanding the root cause of illness; and to work towards developing a healthy mindset to thrive during adversity. Fellow warriors, give yourselves compassion and grace, and remember you are doing the best you can with what you know
